Most of us are thinking: Why all of the hubbub? Who are these cave-people that did not know about the Digital TV conversion that was going to happen on the 12th? And there were some of them.
In face 1/3 of the close to 315,000 calls to the FCC alone on Friday were for the digital TV coupon. But that is not all that the calls were about. The 4,000 agents that were handling the calls reported that another third of the calls were handled by hitting the re-scan button on their digital converter boxes. Apparently when the switch over happened the TV stations automatically tuned into the digital signal which is not only digital versus analog but also on a different frequency.
Another 20% of the calls were for poor reception. Agents fielded the questions and helped consumers fix their reception. If you have questions about your digital TV experience please feel free to call 1-888-CALL-FCC.
