UPDATE: Tweetdeck did not jump the shark with their new iPhone app and updates to the desktop version. They jumped in the pool, wrestled the shark by hand and ripped it’s eyes out, sucking the little sharkbrain out of the sockets for good measure. I have been on the iPhone app for several hours now and really haven’t found one complaint. It’s fast even onmy poor old ver1 iPhone, it’s easy and intuitive to manipulate. Sync worked flawlessly with my desktop even on Edge. I was able to add the other twitter account that I use with a simple couple of clicks and a login. I expect this to be big news tomorrow.
Tweetdeck (our unabashedly favorite twitter client) has rolled out some cool new features.
First off let’s talk about the iPhone app. Supposedly it comes out this today at 9P.M. PST. I’m waiting to see what comes of that rumor. But I hope that it’s true. Besides the basic twitter functionality of sending and receiving tweets on your iPhone you’ll be able to:
- Manage multiple Twitter accounts.
- Use columns to create your personal dashboard.
- Simply sync to set-up
- Continuously updates between your desktop and iPhone.
- Create Groups to easily follow all your friends.
- Follow topics in real-time with saved searches.
- Share photos with Twitpic and YFrog.
- Shorten links with your favorite URL shortener.
- Shake your iPhone to refresh columns.
Here’s some pics from the iPhone app.
The biggest and coolest thing about the changes rolled out from tweetdeck is the sync feature. You will be able to sync all of your computers and your iPhone to handle the same account setup and even column groupings. So if you make a change to your groups on your desktop they are reflected on the iPhone and vice versa.
The desktop version of Tweetdeck also has some cool changes. It too can handle multiple accounts now. I just posted the same post from 2 seperate accounts at the exact same time. Makes it easy, almost too easy, for people who are interested in twitter marketing (spam). You can preview a shortened URL before you go jumping into some pornographic den of iniquity or to a spam page full of nasty malware.
And of course since Tweedeck runs on Adobe Air, it can run on Linux, Mac and Windows. Score one for Adobe on that BTW. As Soon as I get the iPhone version I will post some pics here. Head on over and check it out. TWEETDECK

I just got the iPhone version. So far so good. Very smooth and loads very fast. Certainly faster than my other favorite iPhone twitter app, twitterfon. So, any early ‘well done’ from me.
