Netbooks are one of the biggest things on the market today. Most of these do not include optical drives. CNET got the low down from a source within Microsoft stating that there is the possibility that Windows 7 may be released on a USB flash drive.
Though Microsoft has at this time no official stance, but it has been reported that Windows 7 may be available as a digital download as well. This would allow you to create a bootable USB drive from the file.
This would be the first time that a major OS has ever been available in this format. These drives would be expectedly more expensive as Windows 7 would need a minimum of 10GB of space. Flash drives with that amount of memory are much more expensive than DVDs are.
It will be interesting to see what devlopes.
