Sad to say, but, yes. Matt Reeves who burst onto the movie scene behind the camera with “Cloverfield” has accepted the assignment of remaking the originally Swedish Vampire flick. Why? Why? Why? We at the JUL found “Let the Right One In” to be a perfect treat in all of it’s sub-titled glory. The Swedish version (I hate even saying that) was based on a novel by John Ajvide Lindqvist. Director Thomas Alfredson, who made the original Swedish version was not too pleased to hear of the remake. He said. “…The saddest thing for me would be to see that beautiful story made into something mainstream.”

News is the new name will be “Let Me In” and that Matt Reeves will be working from the book more so than the Swedish Version. There is really only one reason behind making an Americanized version at this point: $$$$$. Which is totally sad, the original was a masterpiece in another language. We have become more and more reliant on remaking movies especially horror movies that started out in another language. How dumb are we if we can’t do subtitles?

If you have not seen the “Let the Right One In” you are missing out on one of the best Vampire flicks of all time. It centers around a boy who is on his way to homicidal tendencies from his home life and from being bullied incessantly at school. A “young” vampire, who may be a girl or a boy, moves into an apartment in his complex and they become friends and more. She defends his homicidal rage and person as they become closer. It’s not your usual vampire movie. That is all I’m going to tell you now.

Here is the trailer for the Only version.
