In my usual way of wasting time on this here Interweb thing I came across something pretty cool on the QMX website (QMX has some of the coolest props and statues from Serenty, BSG, and other fan favorites). They asked singer/songwriter Marian Call to do an album celebrating Serenity and BSG. Marian is a fan girl and geek who loves this stuff just as much as we do. The album is called “Got to Fly” and can be found at the link.
The minute I heard the opening song “I’ll Still Be a Geek After Nobody Thinks It’s Chic (The Nerd Anthem)” I was hooked. The tune opens with her playing an old manual typewriter as an instrument. Sounds weird, but it works so very well.
Other songs on the album pay tribute to Yo-Saff-Bridge from Firefly called “It was Good for You Too”, a tune about everyone’s favorite tobagan wearing mercenary “It’s Good to Have Jayne on Your Side”, and “Dark Dark Eyes” (about Starbuck).
I think her quote on her Twitter page sums her up nicely, the love child of Nora Jones and Jason Mraz raised by TMBG and wolves.
If you are a Browncoat or a Nugget, or just like good geek inspired music, you should check this one out.
This has been, as always,

Just bought this CD (first physical CD I’ve bought in a while) and a nice Serenity T-shirt. Thanks for the tip.
