20/20 vision is soon to become passe. “Augmented reality” is the phrase being coined by the tech world. Already contacts with LEDs getting its power by radio waves. That’s all well and good but still just a mere start. The future could bring us digitized captions below subjects or give us feedback on our own bodies. The human eye holds enough information that a contact could conceivably show us our heart rate, blood pressure, or sugar levels.
Going further than monitoring your health, what about the aspect of gaming interfaces as well as social networking and just altering the reality we see just like changing a skin on a web browser.
Testing is the biggest obstacle at the moment. Still in the animal testing phase it will take some time to get it to market. Enhanced glasses, however, are a much more realistic product for the here and now. Glasses would have a static HUD as opposed to the contacts that would need to be able to track the movement of the eye.
