The Mayans supposedly said that the world will end on December 21, 2012. NASA said they’re full of it. In a classic he said/she said NASA is tossing money into a campaign designed to dispel what they call internet rumours. There is also a doomsday movie opening Friday called 2012 about, you guessed it, the end of the world.
The naysayers claim that a planet will hit us in 2012 and that all of this has been seen by the Mayan calendar. It doesn’t seem to matter to them that this is what they said about 2003 and nothing happened.
NASA has been quoted as saying:

“There is no factual basis for these claims.”

“Credible scientists worldwide know of no threat associated with 2012.”

“We have already determined that there are no threatening asteroids as large as the one that killed the dinosaurs.”
