Lun: The Scariest Thing the Russians Ever Built

Best I can make out from the translation, the Lun is one scary plane/boat/tank hybrid. Aside from the fact that this thing is enormous it has WWII style gunners plus, as if taken straight from the pages of some post-apocalyptic comic, missile tubes. Not just one or two, but six very large missiles. Designed for low level flight it seems that is was deemed either not fuel efficient enough or the US had a hand in derailing the final production, or maybe it was the breakup of the Soviet Union in the late 80’s, not sure which though, due to very rough Russian to English translations. After looking at these picts, I realized that it looks like something out of the old Star Blazers cartoon.

Ubisoft Cracked in Less Than 24 Hours

Ubisoft had made the announcement that hence forth their games would come with a crippling DRM that would kick you off your game and erase your progress if you net link dropped for even a second. Naturally this announcement was seen as an act of war. This is an infringement on the rights of game owners to play their games as they see fit. It is an open challenge to hackers.

Within 24 hours, Skid-Row, one of the larger game cracking groups, has rendered that DRM ineffective.

I Want a Hellabyte Hard Drive

There is a movement afoot, to make Hella the new SI prefix (US) for 10^27, coming after Yotta. Austin Sendek, from the UC Davis Physics Dept. said:

“The number of atoms in 120 kg of carbon-12 would be simplified from 6,000 yottaatoms to 6 hellaatoms. Similarly, the sun (mass of 2.2 hellatons) would release energy at 0.3 hellawatts, rather than 300 yottawatts.”
